“Fedor” is not a usual orphanage for children, it is a transit center. The staff of the center can work in the streets themselves or in collaboration with the police.
As soon as the child is brought to the center, they collect the information about hisher birthplace, family; they try to get information about how they got to the city, as they deal with the children who come from other places.
At first the children are unwilling to talk, but as the time passes, they feel the friendly atmosphere and the first smiles appear on their faces. After all the information and the papers are collected, they are taken back to their families or orphanages, but, unfortunately, it often happens that the same child may reappear in the center again, and even several times. It means that there is no possibility for the child to live in his family or in the orphanage, where life must be too hard for him. So, the time at the center might appear as a short vacation for him.
